In 1898 the chemist and pharmacist Hans Schwarzkopf opened a "paint, drugstore and perfume shop" in Berlin.
In 1903 he launched innovative powder shampoo that rapidly gained popularity.
In 1927 the first liquid shampoo appeared on the European market which was continuously improved upon until 1949.
In 1955, another milestone in hairstyling was reached with the “Taft” styling range while the product category expanded into products for colouring and curly textures over the next few decades.
In 1995 the Düsseldorf-based Henkel Group took over Schwarzkopf Professional and the brand became one of the leading suppliers in Europe in the hair care industry.
In 2004, got2b, another comprehensive styling series, was released.
